Iowa Caucus 2011
The caucus season is in full swing here in Iowa.  I think it's somewhat interesting in the phone polling that occurs.
I get around 7-10 polling calls a week now, but what is interesting is *who* is doing the polling.  They're almost exclusively from the Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, and Rick Perry campaigns.  It certainly says something about who's throwing money around, but makes me wonder if it is a Clinton-esc tactic to constantly adjust what is said and then check the polls.
I'm not sure all the candidates understand that in the caucus season, I want to know your convictions. Based on that I'll choose who I feel is most qualified and who most closely reflects my beliefs.

Caucus process
I wish the process were altered so that there were effectively multiple rounds of voting.
The process is basically to take an initial vote and declare a 'winner.'
Then take a second vote which is basically a yes/no vote on that candidate to determine
if this person is the candidate will you vote for them.  This could be done for the 2nd and 3rd place as well.
The idea behind it is to come up with the strongest candidate for the party.
There are deal killer issues and just because someone has run for office claiming to belong to one party does not garner an automatic vote from me.  This is especially noteworthy when someone has changed political parties, or has previously held a political office and has a record to examine.  My hope in doing this would be to stop being forced to choose between Bad Candidate 1 and Bad Candidate 2.   Possibly only having to choose between Bad Candidate 1 and Decent Canddiate 2.
